In this passage, Paul returns to prayer, asking not for outward circumstances to change, but for inward strength to be given. He prays that believers would be strengthened in the inner man according to the riches of God’s glory, a strength that comes through the Spirit and is rooted in the infinite resources of God Himself.

This prayer moves beyond knowledge to transformation. Paul shows that the Christian life is not sustained by human effort, but by divine power, enabling believers to live in accordance with the riches they have received in Christ — adoption, sonship, and inheritance.

The goal of this strengthening is that Christ would be truly at home in the believer’s heart. Not merely present, but dwelling in settled fellowship, shaping the thoughts, desires, and life of the believer. This calls us to walk by faith, in obedience, and in dependence on the Spirit.

May we be a people who seek not only to know these truths, but to live in them — strengthened by God, and walking closely with Christ.
