Ephesians 1:1-2 Our Identity in Christ
Ephesians opens with two verses overflowing with identity, calling, and blessing.
Discover what it means to be a saint, a servant, and a child of God—loved, known, and graced through Christ.
In this sermon we open Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and explore what the Christian’s true relationship with God looks like. We look at Paul’s own relationship with God: a bond-servant joyfully commissioned as an apostle by the will of the Father. Then we consider who we are in Christ—saints set apart, faithful believers who have been taken out of Adam and placed into Jesus, adopted as sons and daughters, known by God and pleasing to Him because of Christ’s finished work. Paul’s greeting of grace and peace draws our eyes to the only true Source of blessing: God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. As those loved, called, and richly supplied by God, how should we respond?
With worship, devotion, obedience, and joyful proclamation of Christ.
